Faith Outfitters is the name for Children's Ministries at Resurrection, encompassing the time children leave, or "graduate from" Angel Haven, until they reach Confirmation age, or from age 3 until 6th grade. It names the people and the place Resurrection strives to be for Children! As Faith Outfitters, our goal is to equip children with:
Who are Faith Outfitters? YOU ARE! Anyone can be a Faith Outfitter, and we hope to be a community filled with them! Please talk with Sarah Storvick, Director of Children's Ministries, or Betsy Hickey, Sunday School Coordinator, to talk more about the many ways you can become involved in Faith Outfitters!
Children begin their Sunday morning with their families in worship. After the children's message they are invited to go to the dock, what we call our Sunday School program.
Preschoolers go directly to their class area, in the Student LIFE Center. Children in kindergarten - 4th grade gather in the dock area, where they start with a large-group time, after which they spend time in small groups.
Students in 5th and 6th grade grapple with their lesson topics, using Group Publishing's Grapple curriculum. Teachers walk with the 5th and 6th graders to their farmhouse classroom, on Resurrection's property.
Faith Outfitters offers a summer VBA (Vacation Bible Adventure) as well as another weeklong camp for 4th-6th graders (CampServe). We also encourage and help children participate in a variety of camp experiences at Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp, including a June family camp weekend and an August week or weekend for children in grades 2 and older.
We are also pleased to offer several half-day workshops (that we call Day Trips) for parents and children. These include:
- Bible Expedition - A fun night of Bible education and presentation for 3rd-6th graders - October 8, 2011
- Bible Expedition II - For students who have participated in the above event.
- Trek to the Table - Communion preparation workshop for children and their parents.
- ADVENTure - Family Advent event - November 27, 2011.
Faith Outfitters presents a Christmas program or family Christmas celebration each December. All children are welcome to participate.
